At Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber, we understand that women have their own set of unique health care needs and are committed to help women live healthy, fulfilling lives. Our board-certified physicians and clinical staff provide quality, patient-centered services to women of all ages and stages, from low dose 3-D mammograms at the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center to skilled gynecological surgery and care with Windber GYN Associates. Our patients have the peace of mind of knowing that our staff has extensive experience in women’s health.
In January 2021, after noticing that many women had delayed their regular screenings due to the pandemic during the past year, we launched the Screen One Screen All campaign, an awareness campaign created to encourage women to schedule their health exams. The campaign surrounds two of our women’s health-focused departments, the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center and Windber GYN Associates.
The overall goal is to reinforce the importance of regular screenings for all female cancers, which can help detect an abnormality at an early stage and improve treatment outcomes. The three-color ribbon serves as a reminder that cervical, ovarian, and breast health should be viewed as equally important, and that early detection of cancer in these areas through regular screenings can save lives.
In May 2021, the Ann Harris Smith Foundation partnered with the hospital on Screen One Screen All, as they too recognize the importance of screening for all female cancers and share a commitment to women’s health. The foundation was started in 2000 after Ann Harris Smith was diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer. The foundation enthusiastically agreed to collaborate on the Screen One Screen All campaign, bringing an even larger focus to its goal of increasing ovarian cancer awareness.
