You’re ready for the next steps toward a healthier life!

After you have completed the online informational seminar, you are ready for the next steps in your weight loss journey.

Insurance Verification

Insurance coverage varies for weight loss surgery. It is important that you call your insurance provider to determine your coverage for weight loss surgery. Our team will submit all necessary documentation needed for approval.

Consultation

Once you have completed the online seminar and verified coverage with your insurance company, you are ready to schedule your initial consult with one of our bariatric surgeons. Together you and your surgeon will consider your best surgical options and order any pre-operative tests that need to be completed before surgery.

Nutritional Consultation

A registered dietitian will assess your nutrition and provide diet instructions. Your diet history as well as eating patterns will be discussed. Our team will assist you in setting up an appointment with our dietitian.

Behavioral Health Consultation

A psychological consultation is required prior to surgery where a detailed clinical interview will take place with a licensed professional. Our team will provide you with instructions to arrange your appointment.

Scheduled Weight Loss Visits

You will be required to complete three-to-six months of physician supervised visits. Your weight will be recorded at each visit to show proof of weight loss during the supervised weight loss program. Recommendations for behavioral or lifestyle modification will be discussed. Diet and exercise plans will be evaluated and documented.

Surgery

On the day of your surgery, you will report to registration. From there you will be assisted by staff to the operating room. There you will meet with the anesthesiologist and surgeon prior to surgery. After surgery, you will be transferred to our inpatient floor until you are discharged. An expected hospital stay is one-to-two nights.

Long-term Follow-up

Follow-up care is the key to achieving the best possible outcomes after weight loss surgery. Each visit your overall health and nutritional status will be assessed, and your provider will conduct an assessment of weight loss and provide education and nutritional counseling to help optimize weight loss.

Typical follow-up visit schedule:

  • One week
  • One month
  • Three months
  • Six months
  • 12 months
  • Annually after the first year
