1. What is your specialty?
My primary specialty is Emergency Medicine, which I’ve practiced for more than 39 years.
2. Why did you want to become a physician?
I envisioned medicine as a way to employ the gifts and abilities that God has given me in order to serve others.
3. What is one aspect of the job that you find rewarding?
I enjoy providing care for Emergency Department patients that not only relieves their condition, but also allays their related fears and concerns. I find it rewarding to see minds put at ease as well as the expressions of gratitude as we facilitate them moving toward healing and wholeness.
4. In your opinion, what’s the future of your field?
While the increasingly mechanized and technical aspects of medicine have definite advantages, I believe that we must be very intentional and exercise great caution in order to ensure the dignity and humanity of individuals who come under our care.
5. What do you do to achieve work/life balance?
I enjoy spending time with my family, bicycling, camping, running, worship, and music.
