1. What is your specialty?
I am Board Certified in Family Medicine with a strong interest in Adult and Geriatric Medicine. Also, I have been the Forest Hills School District physician since 1991 and continue to visit my nursing home/personal care patients on a regular basis.
2. Why did you want to become a physician?
I enjoy the science behind medicine, the workings of the human body, and treating patients and their families.
3. What is one aspect of the job that you find rewarding?
I find satisfaction in treating patients with their medical problems and providing preventative care. By treating members of the same family, it really helps me to understand their family history, appreciate the entire family dynamic, and anticipate their future medical problems.
4. In your opinion, what’s the future of your field?
The demand for family physicians has skyrocketed due to the need for well-informed coordination of care. As the use of nurse practitioners and physician assistants begins to monopolize the profession, I believe the need for oversight and close monitoring of the patients’ needs by family practice physicians will remain critical.
5. What do you do to achieve work/life balance?
Work tends to be the largest part of my day and weekends. However, I value my time traveling with my wife, six adult children, and nine grandchildren who live throughout the United States and South America (Bolivia). I also enjoy spending time in the woods hunting, fishing, and exercising.
