Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber (CSSMCW) is pleased to welcome Peter Bertin, DO. Dr. Bertin is fellowship-trained in minimally invasive surgery and endoscopy. He performs a wide range of general surgery with a focus on Metabolic and Bariatric surgery including the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional (second chance) surgery.
Dr. Bertin is a graduate of Ohio University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. He did a traditional osteopathic internship at Geisinger Medical Center and went on to complete his residency training in General Surgery at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital – Warren Campus. He developed an interest in the technical aspects minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery through his mentors in residency.
He then completed fellowship training in advanced laparoscopy, endoscopy and ultrasound at St. Vincent Hospital and Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. This experience further highlighted the profound clinical benefits Metabolic and Bariatric procedures can create for patients. For these reasons Bariatric surgery became a key interest of Dr. Bertin. He also enjoys performing a wide range of minimally invasive general surgery procedures.
“I am excited to be joining the accredited Metabolic and Bariatric surgery center at Windber and look forward to be working with the practice of Dr. Moon to continue providing high quality surgical services here at CCS Medical Center at Windber,” he said.
He is board certified in General Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.
Dr. Bertin lives in the Johnstown area. He enjoys running, swimming and outdoor activities.
