Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center Receives $29k From Girls Night Out Altoona, Inc

On Wednesday, December 16, members of the Girls Night Out (GNO) Altoona, Inc. committee delivered a donation of $29,000 to the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center (JMBCC) in support of patient care services. Each year, the committee holds an annual fundraising dinner that brings together breast cancer survivors, family, friends, and supporters. The 8th annual event was held in October at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona.

“We are extremely grateful for the philanthropic support of Girls Night Out Altoona, Inc, in addition to that of many other local organizations. Of all of the places I’ve worked throughout the past 30 years, I’ve never experienced a community as strong as this one,” said JMBCC Medical Director Deborah Sims, MD, FACS.

This year’s funds, in addition to residual funds from previous years, will be used to purchase 3-D breast imaging equipment, which reduces the number of patient recalls. 3-D breast imaging is particularly for women with dense breasts. On Wednesday, December 16, members of the Girls Night Out (GNO) Altoona, Inc. committee delivered a donation of $29,000 to the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center (JMBCC) in support of patient care services.
