Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber, a Planetree Designated patient-centered care hospital, recently presented the 2012 Spirit of Planetree Award to two of its associates. This award was created by Planetree, Inc. to promote patient-centered care by publicly identifying individuals who personalize and demystify the healthcare experience for others.
Dr. Lawrence McNiesh, Medical Director of Radiology, was presented with the Physician Champion Award, and Denise Cominsky, RN in Home Health received the Caregiver Award.
Dr. McNiesh, Ms. Cominsky, and other national award winners were featured in the 2012 Spirit of Planetree Award book and were recognized during the annual Planetree international conference that was held in late 2012.
In a recent ceremony at the hospital, Dr. McNiesh and Ms. Cominsky were acknowledged for their compassion, empathy, kindness, and contributions in enhancing the patient experience.
